Executive Team
Arthur Woo, President and CEO
Mr. Woo has 28 years of experience in the electronics and GPS industries. Prior to co-founding eRide in 1999, he worked at Trimble Navigation where he was Lab Manager, Project Manager, Manager of Advanced Products, and a Member of the Technical Staff. He led the project team that brought to market the first handheld GPS receiver. He holds numerous GPS related patents. He has also worked at Litton Systems, Acrian Inc., Hewlett Packard, and Avantek Inc. Mr. Woo received his M.S.E.E. from Stanford University and his B.S.E.E. from San Jose State University.
Dr. Paul W. McBurney, Chief Technology Officer
Dr. McBurney is a co-founder of eRide. Prior to eRide, he worked at Trimble Navigation where he was Lab Manager, Senior Scientist, and a Member of the Technical Staff. He was the lead designer, manager, and implementer of an advanced GPS architecture presently being used by a major Japanese electronics company. He has brought to market three separate GPS architectures, has authored many articles and white papers, and holds numerous GPS patents. Prior to Trimble Navigation, he worked at Stanford Telecommunications. Dr. McBurney received his Ph.D. and M.S.E.E. from Iowa State University and his B.S.E.E. from St. Ambrose University.
Gary Fischer, Chief Finanical Officer
Mr. Fischer has over 30 years experience in the high tech arena. Prior to joining eRide, Mr. Fischer was employed for over twelve years by ISSI, a Silicon Valley semiconductor company. Mr. Fischer was CFO of ISSI when that company went public in 1995. He concluded his service there as President, COO, and CFO then decided to return to a growth company and joined the management team of eRide. Mr. Fischer has had central involvement in strategic planning, acquisitions and divestitures, operations, Asian manufacturing, QA, IPOs, secondary offerings, roadshows, and managing Wall Street relationships. He received his MBA from the University of Santa Clara and his B.A. from University of California at Santa Barbara.
Jose Briceno, PhD, VP of Sales and Marketing
Dr. Briceno has over 25 years experience in general management, sales, marketing, engineering, and R&D. Having lived and worked in Asia (mostly Japan) for over 25 years, he has extensive territory experience in Japan, Mainland China, Pacific Rim in general, and the U.S. His technology experience includes software, the Internet and eBusiness, GPS, computers, computer networks and system integration, and design engineering. Prior to joining eRide, Dr. Briceno has served as Vice President Asia Pacific Operations for Interwoven Inc., Vice President of Business Development for Trimble Navigation Ltd., Vice President, and General Manager Asia Pacific for Trimble Navigation Ltd., President of Trimble Japan K.K. Dr. Briceno received his Ph.D. and Ms.C. in engineering from Tokyo University, Tokyo, Japan and his undergraduate degree in Material Science from Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, Venezuela.
W. Bradley Stewart, Vice President of Engineering
Mr. Stewart has 15 years of experience in software, hardware, and system development. He has held various positions in new product development ranging from individual contributor to executive. Prior to joining eRide, he was a VP of Development for Schlumberger where he was responsible for research and development of a complete fixed-wireless data communications network used for automated meter reading. He has worked at CellNet Data Systems, Amdahl Corporation, and Data General Corporation. He has also performed consulting and training in efficient product development methodologies for high-tech companies. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Cum Laude.
Allen P. Chen, Vice President of VLSI Engineering
Mr. Chen has 13 years of experience in IC development and management. Most recently, he held senior management positions in Intel's Optical Networking Division, where he was responsible for new Framer product development and for sustaining legacy Ethernet phy product line. He managed a geographically dispersed team across 3 sites and 2 continents. Prior to Intel, he held senior management and technical roles at start-ups, Sun Microsystems, and Altera. He has comprehensive end-to-end knowledge and experience of the complete ASIC design cycle. Mr. Chen holds 3 degrees from Stanford University: BSEE, MSEE, and MS Engineering Management.
John Peele, Vice President of Worldwide Operations
Mr.Peele has over 30 years of experience in high volume manufacturing operations. He has held various management positions at start up companies which include Atari, ETC and Trimble Navigation. He has also held management positions in the semiconductor industry at Data General, NEC and AMD. He managed worldwide fulfillment, field sales and logistics support for both Atari and Trimble Navigation. He studied business management at University of San Francisco and project management at George Washington University.
Charles Trimble, Board Member
Mr. Trimble founded the company that bears his name, Trimble Navigation, in 1978. He served as President and CEO until 1998. During this period, the company grew from a startup to a global corporation. A GPS pioneer, he now serves as Chairman of the U.S. Global Positioning System Industry Council. He received his M.S.E.E. and a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the California Institute of Technology.
Moni Malek, Board Member and Managing Director, Munich GmbH
Mr. Malek was the Vice President of GSM Engineering at Optimay, a subsidiary of Lucent Technology. He has extensive international experience in the worldwide GSM market (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and China) where Optimay GSM software is used in various wireless phones. He has over 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry and has been involved in digital cellular wireless since its inception. He received his M.S.E.E. from Cambridge University.
